Shutter count

How to check the shutter count on the Nikon D7000

The shutter count is the number of photos a camera has taken. It's the first thing to check before you buy a used Nikon D7000, and worth adding to your listing when you sell one.

How to check the shutter count on the Nikon D7000

  1. Take one photo with the camera (ideally in NEF format) and copy the original file to your computer or phone.
  2. Open the Reti shutter counter and add the file.
  3. You'll see the shutter count, the shutter wear rating and whether the camera has the latest firmware.
