Privacy policy
Reti offers free tools for checking used cameras: a shutter counter, a dead pixel test and a listing report. They run in your browser. The photos you check are never uploaded to any server, and we have no access to them.
This policy covers reti.pro and reti.pl.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the owner of reti.pro and reti.pl. For anything related to your data, write to retikontakt@gmail.com.
Photos and camera readings
- The shutter counter and the dead pixel test read the file in your browser. The photo, its metadata and the camera serial number never reach us.
- Reading a Canon over USB happens directly between your browser and the camera. The page only reads data, changes nothing in the camera and sends nothing to a server.
- The LicznikCanon program for Windows runs on your computer and does not connect to the internet.
- The JPG and PDF reports are created in your browser and saved on your device. You decide who sees them.
Browser storage
So that the listing report can insert your shutter count and sensor test results, we keep the latest result in your browser's storage (localStorage): camera model, shutter count and a summary of the sensor test. The filled-in report form is kept there too. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can remove it with the “Clear the form” button in the report, or by clearing site data in your browser settings.
Cookies
The site sets no cookies for visitors, so there is no consent banner. Fonts are served from our own server, not from Google.
Visitor statistics
We count visits with GoatCounter, which uses no cookies and does not track you across websites. It records the page address, the page you came from, your browser and operating system, screen size and country. It does not store your IP address: the address is only used to determine the country and to count unique visits as a hash that is deleted after a few hours.
We also count anonymous events, such as someone checking a shutter count or downloading a report. Only the event name is sent, never the result, model or serial number.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in knowing which tools are used and what to improve.
Hosting
The site is hosted by OVH in the European Union. Like any web server, it keeps technical logs: IP address, time, page address and browser type. They serve security and troubleshooting (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and are deleted automatically by OVH.
If you write to us, for example to send technical data from a Canon reading, we use your address and message only to reply and to improve the tool (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed, at the latest one year after the matter is closed. The mailbox is hosted on Gmail, so messages are stored by Google as our email provider.
Ko-fi and Facebook
The “Buy us a coffee” buttons lead to our page on Ko-fi. Support is voluntary, and Ko-fi and its payment providers (such as PayPal or Stripe) handle the payment under their own privacy policies. We only receive what Ko-fi shares with creators: the name or nickname, the amount, the message you write and, depending on your settings, your email address.
The Facebook link is a plain link. There are no Facebook plugins on the site, so nothing is sent to Facebook unless you click it.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict its processing, and to object to processing. Write to retikontakt@gmail.com. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, in particular in the country where you live. Our lead authority is the Polish President of the Personal Data Protection Office (uodo.gov.pl).
We make no automated decisions and do not profile visitors.
Changes
If the way the site works changes, we will update this policy and the date at the top.
