Before you post a listing
Photos for your listing
A photo from a camera or phone can reveal where you live, the serial number of your gear and your name. Add your photos and we remove that data. You can also resize them, crop them for Instagram, add a watermark and blur a licence plate or serial number. The files never leave your browser.

Settings
With no change to size, compression or watermark, we only remove the data, with no loss of quality. Any other change saves the photo again as a JPG. To blur a licence plate, serial number or face, click the photo thumbnail.

Processing photos…
We removed the crossed-out data from the file. When the image doesn't change, we only keep what the photo needs to display correctly: the image, the colour profile and the rotation.
What a photo gives away
- GPS location. Phones and many cameras record where the photo was taken. A photo of your gear taken at home shows your address.
- Serial number. Cameras store the serial number of the body, and often of the lens too. Someone could use it to pose as the owner, register the gear with a service centre or link your photos from different places.
- Your name. If you entered it in the camera menu (owner, author, copyright), it is in every photo.
- Date and details. The exact time of the photo, the camera and lens model, the editing software and hidden maker data.
Some marketplaces remove this data when you upload, but not all of them and not always. Photos sent by email, as a file in a messenger or through a cloud link keep all of it.
How it works
- If you don't change the size or compression and don't add a watermark, we cut only the metadata out of the file. The image stays identical, bit for bit, with no recompression.
- Resizing, compression, a watermark or blurring save the photo again as a JPG, with no camera data at all. The photo is already rotated the right way.
- The Instagram formats crop the photo around the centre. If your gear is near the edge of the frame, choose a regular resize instead.
- Everything happens in your browser. The photos are not sent anywhere.
- On a phone, the “Save or share” button saves the photos to your gallery or sends them straight to your marketplace app.
Limitations
- RAW and HEIC. RAW is not supported, and HEIC only works in browsers that can open it themselves (such as Safari). A listing needs JPG anyway.
- We remove the data stored in the file. What you can see in the photo is up to you to blur: check that the frame doesn't show a serial number sticker, documents, a licence plate or the view from your window.
