Shutter Count Canon (USB) 0.8.6, legacy models edition - Reti

1. Unzip to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop\ShutterCountCanonLegacy). Don't run it from inside the ZIP.
2. Turn the camera on and connect it with a USB cable. Close EOS Utility if it opens.
3. Run ShutterCountCanonLegacy.exe and click "Read shutter count".
Each further reading restarts the program automatically so the count is fresh.

What it shows:
- EOS 1200D, 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III, 6D, 7D, 7D Mark II, 1D Mark IV, 1D X and similar: the exact shutter count.
- EOS 80D, 750D, 5D Mark IV, 5DS, 5DS R, 1D X Mark II, M10: the exact count, read through the camera's service routines.
- EOS 90D, R6, R7 and newer R models: the mechanical shutter count in steps of 1000 (e.g. "<= 69 000"),
sometimes also the electronic shutter count.
- EOS 10D, 30D, 350D, 400D, 1D Mark III: the exact count from the camera's service memory (needs Zadig, see below).
- PowerShot compacts are not supported.

Results: every reading adds a line to results\results.csv (opens in Excel),
and the full log goes to results\logs. If something doesn't work, send these files to Reti.

OLD MODELS (10D, 30D, 350D, 400D, 1D Mark III):
Windows has no driver for the service mode of these cameras. This edition installs it for you:
- Click "Read shutter count". If the driver is missing, the program asks "Install the driver? (one time)".
Click "Yes" and allow the Windows administrator prompt. It takes up to a minute, then the reading continues.
This is needed only once per computer.
- EOS 30D, 350D, 400D and 1D Mark III: the program first switches the camera to service mode
(new device 04A9 3086) and only then asks about the driver. Don't turn the camera off.
- The driver is installed by the included driver\wdi-simple.exe (libwdi, LGPL licence, see driver\SOURCE.txt).
  Works on 64-bit Windows 8, 10 and 11.
- If the installation fails, do it manually with Zadig (https://zadig.akeo.ie):
Options > List All Devices, select 04A9 3083 (10D) or 04A9 3086 (the others, after switching),
WinUSB on the right, "Install Driver", then "Read shutter count" in the program.
- With old models use a full battery and don't touch the camera during the reading.
If the camera freezes or shows Err 99: take the battery out for 20 seconds.

Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" (the program is not signed).
Click "More info", then "Run anyway".

The program doesn't take pictures and doesn't write anything to the camera. Works on Windows 10 and 11 (.NET Framework 4, built in).
If the camera doesn't respond:
- Close EOS Utility, Photos, Lightroom and other programs (including a shutter count page in your browser).
- Turn off Wi-Fi in the camera menu, check the battery, connect the camera directly (no hub).
- After turning the camera on, wait a few seconds before clicking "Read shutter count".
- If the camera has the WinUSB driver (e.g. after Zadig or a WebUSB page), the program connects to it anyway.

If there is no count or an error appears, click "Copy technical data" or send the file from results\logs.
The technical log is in Polish; that's fine, we read it.
